We care about growth, not for its own sake, but for its ability to raise living standards across the UK. This is why we focus on what the public wants to see from growth and how it can positively impact all of our lives.

Praful Nargund

  • Praful is a social entrepreneur and campaigner, who shaped education policy as part of Labour’s Council of Skills Advisors. Until 2023, Praful was the CEO of Create Fertility, which he built with a mission to innovate and make fertility treatment more accessible and affordable for families. He is also a co-founder of a social impact fund which aims to drive sustainable growth. Praful has won innovation and business awards from The Spectator, The Telegraph and London Business School. He ran as Labour’s parliamentary candidate in Islington North in the 2024 General Election.

Tim Allan

  • Tim’s career has spanned business and politics. At the beginning of his career, he worked for Tony Blair, for 6 years. As Alastair Campbell’s deputy, he was part of the team which secured the 1997 General Election landslide victory, and he then worked as a Deputy Press Secretary in 10 Downing Street. He left Number 10 to work at Sky, where he worked first as Director of Communications and then as part of the in house business strategy team. In 2001, after his INSEAD MBA, he founded Portland. Over the course of 18 years as its Managing Director, Tim grew Portland into one of the most renowned reputation management companies in the UK. Its operations expanded into four continents, employing over 280 people. He sold the business to Omnicom Inc, with the sale completing in 2019. He now invests in communications businesses, including Strand Partners, which he chairs.

Louisa Dollimore

  • Louisa began her career as an organiser for Dame Siobhain McDonagh MP. After earning a Bachelor’s in English from Oxford University, Louisa joined Praful’s team where she worked across a range of initiatives like Create Impact Ventures, a social impact fund, The Pipeline, a business offering women’s leadership coaching, and Create Health Foundation, a women’s health charity. In the 2024 General Election, Louisa worked as Praful’s Campaign Organiser in Islington North, where they reduced the incumbent’s majority from 26,000 to 7,000. Following the election she continues to support Praful on a range of projects, and is Chief of Staff for the Good Growth Foundation.

Theresa Bischof

  • Theresa has previously conducted research in political campaigns & mobilisation at the LSE’s Department of Government, and worked in public affairs and communications at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), advising industry leaders across sectors. In May 2024, Theresa received PR week‘s 30 under 30 Newcomer Award.

Billie Coulson

  • Billie joined the Good Growth Foundation having worked across media relations and public affairs at strategic communications firms Pagefield and APCO. She began her career in podcast production for Economist Radio and Luminary, moving into policy and advocacy at Malaria No More UK. She has worked with a range of clients, spanning a wide variety of industries, including the charitable, tech and transportation sectors. Billie has a first class degree in Arabic and the Study of Religions from SOAS.

Arthur Fyfe-Stoica

  • Arthur is a seasoned policy and public affairs professional. During his degree, he took a placement year in Parliament working on three Commons Select Committees covering Brexit, COP26, devolution and scrutinising the Shared Prosperity Fund. He has since worked at the charity school breakfast provider Magic Breakfast where he shaped Labour’s school breakfast policy. Since 2024 he has worked in public affairs for Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing leading on stakeholder advocacy and housing policy, and is now working on economic policy for the Good Growth Foundation.

Lord Liddle

  • Roger Liddle is a Labour member of the House of Lords. From 1997- 2004 he was Europe adviser to Tony Blair. From 2004-8 he worked at a senior level in the European Commission as a member of Peter Mandelson’s cabinet and the President’s  think tank. From 2008-10 he played a key role supporting Peter Mandelson in remaking the case for an activist modern industrial policy. In the Lords he has served on the Labour front bench and on the European Select Committee. He was coauthor with Peter of the 1996 Blair Revolution and has written extensively on Europe and the modernisation of social democracy as former chair of the Policy Network think tank. He now chairs the board of Progressive Britain.

Julia Finch

  • Julia Finch spent nearly 25 years at the Guardian, serving as head of business, economics and consumer affairs across The Guardian newspaper, theguardian.com and The Observer for more than a decade. Her team scooped multiple awards and Julia has appeared on TV, radio and on Guardian podcasts, usually as an expert commentator. Prior to joining the Guardian, she worked for the Daily Express as a reporter, editor and head of department. Julia has a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and is also a keen sports fan, especially of cricket and football, and a supporter of women’s sport.

Anthony Breach

  • Anthony is Associate Director at Centre for Cities, where he is the lead on housing, planning, devolution, and local finance. He has also led research projects on commercial property in cities, service exports, productivity, advanced manufacturing, and the Treasury Green Book.

Jo Tanner

  • Jo Tanner is a recognised media commentator for UK broadcasters and print media on current affairs. As a senior director in APCO’s London office, Jo works across public affairs, media relations, and crisis and corporate communications to assist clients navigating media and political challenges. Using her years of experience in Westminster circles, working directly with politicians or connecting nonprofits and FTSE100 clients with government, opposition MPs or political media, Jo now provides senior counsel and creative solutions for clients looking to break through in an increasingly crowded space.

    Using her entrepreneurial spirit, Jo co-founded and managed a leading boutique, award-winning consultancy for over sixteen years, where she ran the PR machine for Boris Johnson’s successful Mayoral Campaign, media-trained leading political and business figures. She also developed innovative concepts and campaigns in the public affairs space to support client’s networks and lobbying efforts. In addition, Jo worked on high-profile High Court actions and global crisis communications projects.

    Starting out as a broadcast journalist working at Independent Television News, Jo switched to an in-house role as a media officer for the Conservative Party. After years working for Her Majesty’s Official Opposition, she left to work in charity and public sector external affairs and then became communications chief for the British Chamber of Commerce prior to setting up her own firm.

    Passionate about education and mental health, Jo helped establish a charity working to prevent teenage suicide and was a member of an academy trust board after many years as a school governor. Taking up football in later life, she also founded the UK Parliamentary Women’s Football Team and was with the team as they set a world record for the biggest ever match in a major event across five days in Lyon, France.

    Alongside her consulting and commentary work, Jo dedicates time to causes helping to improve life chances whether supporting women’s representation in politics, the media and industry or advising bodies pursuing economic prosperity.

Hugh Goulbourne

  • Hugh is a commercial lawyer and a leader in clean energy finance and climate policy. With over 15 years of experience advancing the UK’s renewable energy transition, Hugh has held key roles in environmental charities and advised the New Labour government on community energy and grid decarbonisation. 

    Based in the North of England, Hugh is passionate about the need to provide opportunities for people across the UK to start and scale businesses in the industries of the future. He helped to kick off the development of the health innovation campus in Huddersfield and is leading a programme of work with Progressive Britain to help develop regional models for economic growth. 

    Outside of work Hugh is a sports coach and enthusiast and a Labour Party activist, ensuring due process within the Labour Party as an elected member of its National Constitutional Committee.

Andrew Clark

  • A former journalist, Andrew spent nearly two decades as a financial reporter, editor and City commentator, holding roles including Business Editor of the Observer, Deputy Business Editor at The Times and US Business Correspondent at the Guardian. Since moving into the corporate world, he has been Head of Communications for a major industrial conglomerate and Corporate Affairs Director at The Go-Ahead Group, a leading bus and rail operator. He now works for a communications consultancy. 

    Between 2018 and 2021, he was Chief Operating Officer of Labour in the City. He is now Chair of Islington South Labour Party.
